A Croatian men's quadruple squall crew comprising David Sain, Martin Sinkovic, Damir Martin and Valent Sinkovic won the silver at the European rowing championships in Montemor-O-Velho, Portugal, on Sunday.

The Croatian foursome lagged one second behind the gold medalists.

This was their first defeat in a season which saw them win the World Cup.

The bronze went to Ukraine.

Earlier on Sunday, Croatian crew Sonja Keserac and Maja Anic  won the bronze in coxless pairs for women.

The gold went to the Romanian pair and the German team won the silver.
