A summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States and the European Union ended in Santiago on Sunday with a call for better cooperation and strategic partnership.

Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic was to have addressed the participants but due to lateness in the programme, some addresses were cancelled, including his.

On the fringes of the event, Milanovic met with Slovenian PM Janez Jansa but they had no statements for the press afterwards.

Croatian Foreign Minister Vesna Pusic also attended the summit. She voiced confidence that an agreement could be reached with Slovenia in the days ahead on the Ljubljanska Banka debt issue.

She said preparations for the ratification of Croatia's EU accession treaty in Slovenia could be completed by the end of February, and that she had a lot of hope in her meeting with Slovenian Foreign Minister Karl Erjavec this coming week.

Pusic confirmed that Milanovic and Jansa spoke about the Ljubljanska Banka issue on the fringes of the summit.
