Dairy farmers in the eastern Croatian town of Djakovo, who staged protests on Wednesday, held a news conference on Thursday to again express their dissatisfaction with the proposed purchase price and with the problems in the dairy sector.
The protests resumed in front of the Dukat plant in Zagreb and the Sirela plant in Bjelovar.
One of the leaders of disgruntled diary farmers, Branko Zoric, accused the government and the agriculture ministry of tricking milk producers.
Dairy farmers demand state subsidies of 0.42 kuna per kilogramme of milk in the run-up to Croatia's accession to the European Union. They are requesting an urgent meeting with Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic and responsible ministers.
On the other hand, the "Mliko" association of 15 big diary farms on Thursday said that it publicly distanced itself from those disregarding the agreement reached at yesterday's meeting of the council for dairy farmers.
It distanced itself from some of the members of the Croatian Union of Milk Producers (HSUPM) who the Mliko association said continued with the blockade of the Dukat dairy company.
