Economy Minister Ivan Vrdoljak told reporters in the Croatian People's Party (HNS) headquarters on Monday that the government had done its best in the first year of its mandate, given the circumstances and Croatia's obligations.
The minister said the government had laid good foundations for a true effect - a better life for Croatian citizens in the coming years. He added that true results would be visible after the second, third and fourth years of the government's mandate.
Commenting on the announced GDP growth of 1.8 percent, Vrdoljak said he truly believed that this was possible and that people needed to be optimistic.
"The government, however, cannot realise this growth on its own, public companies need to make their contribution and secure a safe and stable system so that the private sector can launch investments. If everyone makes their contribution, including trade unions which need to be more tolerant, GDP will go up by 1.8 percent next year," the minister said.
