Croatian employers assessed the current economic situation with a bare pass and they believe that next year will be a difficult one, say the results of a survey conducted by the Croatian Association of Employers (HUP) "Business expectations in 2013".
Commenting on the results HUP president Ivica Mudrinic said on Wednesday that it was obvious that conditions have not been set in place that would attract investors.
He added that tax burdens were higher this year which turned investors away and contributed to capital being withdrawn from Croatia.
The survey encompassed 321 company reps who rated the economy on a scale 1-5 with 1 being the lowest score. The average score given was 2.06.
About 54% of employers - members of HUP - consider that the situation in 2013 will be pretty much the same as this year. In 2012 employers considered that the year was much worse than in 2011 and so it can be expected that the situation will continue to be in a difficult position.
Expectations with regard to investments are a little more optimistic and 28 percent expect better conditions next year, 38% consider the situation will remain the same and 34% consider that the situation will only get worse.
