Four hooligans who took part in Tuesday's attack on a bus carrying guests of the Greek PAOK football club in Zagreb are suspected of causing public danger, Zagreb police said on Thursday, describing the incident as a hate crime.
After a police investigation, the police took to the Zagreb County Court investigating prison two 20-year-olds, one 21-year-old and one 17-year-old. The four do not have previous police records.
Police said they were continuing the search for other assailants who around 1 pm on Tuesday stoned a bus carrying from Zagreb airport some 40 VIP guests of the PAOK football club who was to play Dinamo Zagreb the following day.
After smashing windows on the bus, the attackers threw into the bus several flares that caused a minor fire. Around 40 young people took part in the attack.
The police also reported that before, during and after Wednesday's game between PAOK and Dinamo Zagreb they arrested 18 domestic fans for violence and for drunk and disorderly behaviour.
During the game, a fight broke out near the Maksimir Stadium, the venue of the event, in which a 40-year-old sustained serious injuries. A 25-year-old is under investigation for the assault.
