Four former employees of the Finnish state-owned defence equipment manufacturer, the Patria Group, have been suspected of corruption in a sales deal for armoured vehicles sold to Croatia, Finnish media reported on Thursday.

According to the Turun Sanomat daily and carried by the Finnish YLE broadcaster, the four are also suspected of bribery in connection with the company’s vehicle contract in Slovenia.

Finnish police have completed an investigation into a shady contract between Patria and the Croatian government, according to the Finnish media. The four employees are suspected of bribery in that case.

The sales deal, concluded in 2007, for the delivery of 84 armoured vehicles to the Croatian government for EUR 112 million has been investigated. According to the reports these are the same four suspected of shady dealings with Slovenia.

All four have denied the allegations and the case will be referred to the prosecution, early July.
