According to preliminary estimates, Croatia's Gross Domestic Product in the third quarter of 2010 went up 0.2% in real terms compared with the same period of last year, the Central Bureau of Statistics reiterated on Wednesday in response to interpretations of the Dun & Bradstreet credit rating agency's latest International Risk & Payment Review.

In its report for December, D&B said that monthly economic indicators suggested that the Croatian economy did not grow in the third quarter. It therefore revised downwards its growth forecast for Croatia - it now expects the economy to shrink by 1.7% in 2010 (as against the previously forecast growth of 0.5%) and to grow by 1.3% in 2011, noting, however, that downside risks to the forecast remain.

The Central Bureau of Statistics said it could not comment on anyone's estimates, including those which D&B published in its latest International Risk & Payment Review that was carried by the Croatian media.

The Bureau reiterated that on 26 November it released preliminary figures according to which Croatia's Gross Domestic Product in the third quarter of 2010 was 0.2% up from the third quarter of 2009. The Bureau said that the estimate was based not only on the published monthly figures but also on the quarterly figures that have not been published.
