The Croatian Association of Trade Unions (HUS) has called on the government and the Croatian Employers' Association (HUP) to stop blaming each other for the economic crisis and focus their efforts on creating conditions to overcome the crisis.
"We appeal to the government and the employers to suppress their obvious vanities and focus on the target we all want to achieve, and that is a better life in Croatia," the HUS said in a statement on Monday.
The HUS said that the current bickering between the government and employers revealed tensions that hampered efforts to establish a functioning partnership between participants in the tripartite social dialogue. It urged the other two parties to exercise patience and show more understanding and readiness to back down from their demands, and to look to workers who "are taking the brunt of the crisis stoically" without any facilities from the government.
