Croatian President Ivo Josipovic concluded his visit to the United States by delivering a lecture at Harvard University in Boston on Friday, Croatian Radio said on Saturday.

Addressing an audience of students and teachers at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Josipovic spoke of Croatia's regional and European policies, saying that Croatia's European policy would not end with its entry into the European Union but would continue in the form of regional policy. He stressed that Croatia's aim was to see all countries in Southeastern Europe as members of the EU.

"For Croatia, it is a security issue and an issue related to the economic growth of Croatia and of our neighbours. It is also related to Croatia's role in the European Union. Croatia can certainly establish itself as a bridge between the European Union and the wider region to which we belong," Josipovic said.

At the end of his visit to Harvard, Josipovic said that as a former professor at the Zagreb School of Law he was very glad to have had the opportunity to visit the oldest university in the United States and meet with members of the academic community there.

The Croatian president in New York on Wednesday attended an international conference entitled "America at a Crossroads - the Dayton Accords and the Beginning of 21st Century Diplomacy," organised by former President Bill Clinton's Clinton Global Initiative. Clinton confirmed at the conference he would come with a group of investors for an economic forum in Dubrovnik in April to encourage investment in Croatia and the region.
