Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) vice president Darko Miliovic on Tuesday denied receiving any compensation from the party's coffers in the past, as claimed in today's testimony by former HDZ accountant Branka Pavosevic in the Fimi Media corruption trial.

"It's not true that I received any compensation from the party coffers in the monthly amount of HRK 10,000," said Milinovic.

"It's true, as I informed the Croatian public at a press conference a year and a half ago, that I was invited to the party's legal treasury on four occasions to take a donation for the renovation of the church in Bilaj that was demolished in the war. There is documentation confirming that as well as many witnesses," he said, adding that in some depositions Pavosevic confirmed that she had not the donation in monthly amounts.

Pavosevic said in her depositions, which were read out in court today, that many HDZ officials had used the party's slush fund and that, at the orders of former prime minister and HDZ president Ivo Sanader, Milinovic, at the time the minister of health, had been receiving a monthly compensation of HRK 10,000.
