Lawyer Milos Saljic, who represents Bosnian Serb wartime leader Ratko Mladic, on Monday sent an appeal against the ruling by a Belgrade court that had found his client to be fit to stand trial before the UN tribunal in The Hague.
The appeal was sent by post and was expected to arrive at the court on Tuesday, after which a non-trial panel would consider it within three days of its receipt.
The War Crimes Chamber of the High Court in Belgrade concluded its hearing of Mladic last Friday, after which the court ruled that the conditions for the transfer of Mladic to The Hague had been met.
