The BUZ pensioners' association on Friday criticised Finance Minister Slavko Linic because of his unargumented attempt to justify actions by tax collectors that were managing to find reasons to close down hundreds of hospitality facilities along the Adriatic coast in the midst of the tourism season.
In his latest appearance in the media, Minister Linic lambasted anyone who did not see the justification for his latest moves during the summer and not once has he stopped to ask who the real victims were in with these actions, BUZ said in a press release, adding that in the end the state and tourism will be the greatest losers.
His rhetoric is particularly dangerous when without any judicial proceedings, what is more, court rulings he openly accuses tax dodgers or those whose facilities had been closed, of being criminals, BUZ underscored, adding that in some cases facilities were shut down because of a ten kuna surplus in their cash registers.
BUZ adds that Linic's threats that he would investigate the assets of some club owners whose facilities were closed down were just mere demagogy.
The association urged Minister Linic and his 'tax squads' to take account while conducting their tax inspections that they must not mistreat guests as it is they who brought in the money to Croatia.
