Disgruntled farmers continued their protest on Wednesday for the eighth consecutive day by blocking roads with their tractors at several locations in Vukovar-Srijem County.
Police said they would issue warnings to those blocking traffic, adding that the law foresees a fine between HRK 10,000 and HRK 30,000 for these violations.
The president of the SHS farmers' trade union, Tomislav Pokrovac, said that despite the police warnings, farmers would not discontinue blocking roads as they did not believe they were in violation of any law.
He said about 300 disgruntled farmers with as many tractors were protesting at several locations in Vukovar-Srijem County, adding that the road blocks would continue.
Farmers seek the payment of more than HRK 450 million in late subsidies and a correction of the purchase price for wheat, insisting it should not be under HRK 1.38 per kilogram, the wheat price in 2012.
