Croatian President Ivo Josipovic finds the decision of Zagreb Commercial Court judge Mislav Kolakusic to suspend Dalekovod's pre-bankruptcy proceedings until the Constitutional Court assesses the constitutionality of the relevant legislation to be his legitimate move, but has also expressed understanding for Finance Minister Slavko Linic's response who said that he was appalled by the judge's decision.

Josipovic on Thursday called for "drawing something good out of the situation which looks bad" and for turning the developments "to our favour".

"The finance minister has to date scored good results and I can understand his dissatisfaction," Josipovic said in Brdo Pri Kranju, Slovenia, after a regional summit, when he was asked by the press to comment on the latest developments in Croatia regarding pre-bankurptcy settlement proceedings following the judge's decision on the stay of proceedings in the case of the Dalekovod company as he suspects that some segments of the Financial Operations and Pre-Bankruptcy Proceedings may be not in line with the constitution.

"The judge has acted within his remit," Josipovic said, adding that "it is now on the judiciary to have in mind the effects of its decisions".

I believe that the judiciary understands that decisions must be not only in line with the law but also fair, the president said.
