Croatian First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign and European Affairs Minister Vesna Pusic said in Chile on Sunday she was confident that over the next several days agreement could be reached with Slovenia about the Ljubljanka banka issue.
"I hope we are now on the right path, that we are on the path to find a solution which will separate two topics - to resolve the Ljubljanska Banka issue and to carry out fast preparations for the ratification (of Croatia's EU accession treaty)," Pusic told reporters on fringes of a summit of the European Union (EU) and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).
Pusic said that preparations for the ratification in Slovenia would be completed by late February. "By then it will be clear whether Slovenia will hold early elections, however preparations related to the ministry and department in charge of drawing up the documents for the ratification could be competed by then on condition that we find answers to our questions over the next several days," said Pusic adding that she expected a lot from her meeting with her Slovenian counterpart Karl Erjavec, scheduled to take place in Brussels next week.
Pusic confirmed for the press that Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic and his Slovenian counterpart Janez Jansa talked about the Ljubljanska Banka issue on the margins of the summit in Chile.
