Ex-Prime Minister Ivo Sanader will be questioned in the Remetinec prison on Tuesday and not in the building of the anti-corruption agency USKOK as Sanader's lawyers previously stated.

The questioning of Sanader concerning the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) slush funds was scheduled for 1400 hours, his lawyer Jadranka Slokovic told the press.

The ongoing investigation into the Fimi Media case has been expanded recently due to suspicion that money syphoned from state-owned companies and ministries partially went to the HDZ slush funds and that the party's election campaigns were allegedly financed with money from the these funds.

The investigation in this case has so far covered 19 suspects and the HDZ as a legal entity. Apart from Sander, under investigation are also the Fimi Media agency's owner Nevenka Jurak, former HDZ accountant Branka Pavosevic, former HDZ secretary general Ivan Jarnjak, and former spokesman for the government and the HDZ Ratko Macek.

Because of the Fimi Media case, HDZ's property has been blocked. This is a temporary measure by which the state is securing possible compensation should the HDZ be found guilty in court.

The trial against Sanader for war profiteering in the Hypo bank case and for taking EUR 10 million in kickbacks to give the Hungarian oil company MOL managing rights in INA recently started before the Zagreb County Court.
