Serbia's National Security Council on Friday said the bomb explosion which rocked Mitrovica, Kosovo, earlier today was a terrorist act and that the European Union's representative in Kosovo, Pieter Feith, was objectively responsible for everything that happened.
Serbian President Boris Tadic's office said in a press release that the Council condemned "the attempt to open an illegal office of temporary institutions in Kosovska Mitrovica" and the use of violence to do that, assessing the event was a direct act of provocation and that it undermined all publicly stated positions and principles of the UN Security Council and the EU.
"By supporting and carrying out today's attempt to open an office of temporary institutions, Pieter Feith directly resorted to methods which are contrary to the policy and position of the EU and he carries objective responsibility for all the consequences of today's tragic event," said the press release.
The hand grenade blast in the northern part of Mitrovica shortly before 10 am killed one person and wounded 11. It is unknown who activated the bomb, which exploded as hundreds of Serbs were protesting against the Kosovo government's intention to open an office for the issue of personal identification documents.
