Thirteen people suspected of attacking Croatian handball fans in the northern Serbian city of Novi Sad on Tuesday have been remanded in custody for 30 days, media in Belgrade said on Saturday.
The detention orders have been issued by the High Court in Novi Sad, and police are still looking for two suspects, according to media reports.
Serbia is hosting the European Men's Handball Championship and matches are played in several cities. During a semifinal game between Serbia and Croatia in Belgrade on Friday evening, the situation was calm and no incidents were reported, police said.
The Serbian Interior Ministry said in a statement on Saturday morning that all groups of Croatian fans had returned to Croatia under the escort of Serbian police and without incident.
Several thousand police officers were deployed in and around the Belgrade Arena, where the match way played, and at several important buildings in the city, including the Croatian Embassy, to maintain law and order.
