Serbs in the north of Kosovo on Friday clashed with the NATO-led Kosovo Force (KFOR) and in the shooting three local Serbs and one KFOR member sustained injuries, the Belgrade electronic media reported.
The gunfight ensued after peacekeepers tried to dismantle Serb roadblocks blocking traffic near the village of Rudare in the municipality Zvecan.
Following the incident KFOR helicopters were flying over the area.
According to the Belgrade media, one wounded Serb remained in the hospital in Kosovska Mitrovica while the other was discharged from the hospital.
KFOR spokesman Uve Nowitzky was quoted as saying that the wounded KFOR member was stable.
Serbian Minister for Kosovo Goran Bogdanovic described the situation in the north of Kosovo as inflammatory and called on the local Serbs to be calm and on KFOR to refrain from using force.
