The Carinthian parliament's commission investigating the Hypo-Group Alpe Adria case is expected to soon obtain a statement from Croatian National Bank (HNB) governor Zeljko Rohatinski after which it will see how much a recent testimony by former Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader is true, the commission's head, Rolf Holub, said in an interview with the Austrian newspaper Kleine Zeitung of Tuesday.
In the interview, the representative of the Greens in the parliament of the Austrian state of Carinthia said that the commission intended to continue its work after the Christmas holidays.
The Sanader case is not over yet. We will soon get a statement from HNB governor Zeljko Rohatinski. It will show what will remain of Sanader's words, said Holub.
In his testimony to the Carinthian commission last week, Sanader denied having interceded with the HNB in the sale of Hypo-Group Alpe Adria to the BayernLB bank in 2007.
Holub said that the commission should also investigate the political ties between former Austrian Chancellor Wolfgang Schuessel, Austrian politician Franz Fischler and Sanader.
Sanader is in custody in Austria and is wanted in Croatia on suspicion of corruption.
