There were no new recommendations made following the meeting in Bled, Slovenia concerning the Ljubljanska Banka issue. We however are in agreement, the Croatian financial expert assigned by Croatia to handle this matter, Zdravko Rogic said on Monday commenting on alleged '"noise" in the communication channels between Zagreb and Ljubljana regarding some new recommendations concerning foreign currency savings in the now defunct bank.
Rogic and his Slovenian counterpart France Arhar have met three times to prepare possible recommendations concerning the issue of transferred savings from the bank. The last meeting was in the Bled on October 4.
Rogic explained that the concept agreed to so far consisted of two components.
"The first is of a multilateral nature - in support of an initiative put forward by Croatian Foreign and European Affairs Minister Vesna Pusic that both countries send a joint letter to the Bank for International Settlements in Basel to once again sponsor a new round of negotiations between successor countries of the former Yugoslavia in line with Article 7, of Annex C of the Succession Agreement", Rogic said recalling that both experts had said they would personally engage themselves for the negotiations to take place.
"The second component is of a bilateral nature. The two experts advised the media that in consideration of the problem assigned to them, they have set down some directions and contours for a possible solution which we will continue to work on in our future meetings, after we have advised our governments and receive their approval", Rogic said.
He explained that Minister Pusic supported this concept and assessed it as "reasonable and acceptable".
"As far as the Slovenian side is concerned the first concept has been blocked on condition that Croatian banks withdraw their suits against the Ljubljanska Banka. There have been no indications concerning the second component as yet", Rogic added.
He concluded that the two experts would meet again in about ten days.
