Serb National Council president Milorad Pupovac on Friday appealed to all parties involved in the crisis in Kosovo to continue dialogue and refrain from any unilateral moves or acts of violence.
"Dialogue is very important because without it the disputes between Pristina and Belgrade will not be resolved," Pupovac said. "We have been cooperating with the Serbs in Kosovo for years, trying to help them deal with their problems under new circumstance and with the work they need to do to win a new position under new circumstances," he added.
The crisis broke out after Kosovo special police took over the Jarinje and Brnjak border posts, controlled by Serbs in northern Kosovo, to enforce a ban on imports from Serbia as a reciprocal move against the blockade of Kosovo trucks travelling to Serbia.
Ethnic Serbs living in northern Kosovo near the border with Serbia set up barricades and one Kosovo policeman was killed in the ensuing violence. The border posts were later taken over by KFOR peacekeepers and were declared military restricted areas.
