Foreign Minister Gordan Jandrokovic and Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Bozidar Kalmeta on Wednesday met Italian Economic Development Minister Paolo Romani, who pledged that the bulk of the problems caused by Italian TV stations' disturbance of Croatian TV stations' digital signal would be solved by the summer, the foreign ministry said in a statement.
Italian operators should abide by the frequency plan and international agreements, it was said.
Romani outlined the steps taken by the Italian side, pledging that the bulk of the problems would be solved by the beginning of the summer, while Jandrokovic said the steps taken by Romani's ministry so far to remove the disturbance had not resulted in permanent improvement or solved the problem.
Kalmeta said it was important that each country respect the frequency signals allocated by international agreements.
The two sides agreed on the establishment of a task force to oversee the implementation o of what has been agreed.
Romani confirmed Italy's strong support to Croatia's European Union membership, voicing hope that Croatia would join on 1 January 2013.
The two sides also discussed the possibility of increasing Italian investment in Croatia, with Jandrokovic calling on the Italians to invest in the manufacturing sector, energy, tourism, and infrastructure.
