The Croatian Employers' Association (HUP) said on Thursday it was pleased with the government's guidelines for drafting the 2012 budget, which provide for a reduction of the deficit and easing the burden on the economy.
It is very important for employers that despite certain changes to the tax policy the government has kept its promise that it will not increase the overall tax burden, the HUP said in a statement.
The HUP welcomed a projected increase of investment by public companies by 8 billion kuna, saying that it gave optimism about the need to kick-start an investment cycle in the country. It said that it still saw a lot of room to relieve the economy of parafiscal levies, which was necessary to speed up economic growth.
The HUP said it was very important that the government should start comprehensive reforms as soon as possible in order to improve the performance of public administration and public companies and to speed up the necessary structural reforms in the national economy and society.
