Former Austrian chancellor Alfred Gusenbauer, who is currently a consultant and lecturer and a member of supervisory boards of Austrian companies, has accepted the bid by Serbia's Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic to become his advisor, Belgrade media reported on Wednesday evening.
Vucic has made an agreement with Gusenbauer, and now his arrival in Belgrade is expected, the Serbian news agency Tanjug reported.
Gusenbauer, who served as the chancellor of Austria from January 2007 to December 2008 as a member of the the Social Democratic Party of Austria, is expected to deal with reforms and the promotion of Serbia during its journey towards the European Union.
Since early 2009, Gusenbauer is the first Leitner Global Fellow at the Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs in New York. Gusenbauer is also a member of the Club de Madrid, an independent organization of more than 80 former presidents and prime ministers, which works to strengthen democratic governance and leadership.
