General Ivan Cermak was hospitalised on Saturday evening at Zagreb's Rebro's hospital due to urologic problems, Cermak's friend who visited him in the hospital told press on Sunday.
"The general was under a great stress for 12 years, notably on Friday when the judgement (against him) was handed down by the Hague tribunal which resulted in health problems and low immunity," the same source said after visiting Cermak.
He said most of the tests have already been done adding that Cermak would be released in several days.
Cermak arrived in Zagreb on Friday after earlier that day the UN war crimes tribunal acquitted him of all charges.
