Just after 10 o’clock this morning at Zagreb’s Sheraton hotel, the Croatian Football Federation (HNS) opened its assembly. Unlike the December assembly, Thursday’s started without incident
Although initially called for April 19th, the Board of Executives moved the date to April 7th. With Igor Stimac and his likeminded supporters suspended from all football duties, the Sheraton is host to an assembly consisting of those in support of reigning HNS President Vlatko Markovic. HNS Secretary Zorislav Srebric explained that 49 members were summoned to the assembly, meaning that the quorum is set at 25 votes. Just as many delegates appeared at the hotel for the assembly. Also attending is UEFA delegate Jacques Bondoll.
Delegates from nine county federations failed to attend the assembly.
The assembly was opened by Secretary Srebric who determined the assembly quorum. After the secretary, Vlatko Markovic took the podium.
‘The people gathered here have quality interest in football. We will know just as always how to help those who are without. At this moment in time following the flop in Georgia, it is crucial to call this assembly to ascertain who the people in Croatian football are. Thank you so very much. This is a difficult time for our football, even though we are at the top of all tables,’ said HNS President Vlatko Markovic.
The assembly was also greeted by UEFA Delegate Bandoll, who stated that he was glad to be in Zagreb and able to monitor the Assembly.
‘[UEFA] monitors what is happening in the HNS, especially following recent events. We have firm principles publically stated by UEFA and FIFA. I would like to greet you all on the behalf of UEFA President Michel Platini and wish you all the best in your work.’
Srebric explained that there are not two assemblies, that all had been verified and that the HNS’s current lineup is legal, which was backed by the umbrella organizations, UEFA and FIFA.
The Federation’s financial report was adopted unanimously, which Srebric commended and called for applause from those present for the Federation’s positive financial successes. The Assembly also accepted the Federation’s financial plan for the 2011/2012 season.
