Businessman Tomo Horvatincic on Tuesday pleaded not guilty to charges of causing a traffic accident at sea last year in which an Italian couple was killed, and extended his apologies to the children of the deceased couple.
During today's preliminary hearing at the Sibenik County Court, Horvatincic said he did not feel guilty about the 16 August 2011 accident in which his yacht which he was racing near the small island of Maslinovik off Primosten crashed at full speed into the other boat, fatally injuring the Italian couple.
According to the indictment, Horvatincic was racing his yacht at a speed above the lawful rate of speed near the coast, ignoring the other traffic.
The trial is adjourned until 28 May.
