The Chief Prosecutor for the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), Serge Brammertz, is scheduled to visit Zagreb on 4 May, as part of the preparations for a regular June report to the UN Security Council, Brammertz's special advisor Frederick Swinnen told a regular news conference in The Hague on Wednesday.
"In preparation of the next report to the UN Security Council, Mr. Serge Brammertz, the Prosecutor, will travel to Zagreb on 4 May and to Belgrade on 10-11 May. During these working visits, he will meet with the authorities to discuss the cooperation with the Office of the Prosecutor. Shortly thereafter, he will submit his report to the UN Security Council. He will address the Council in early June", Swinnen said.
Asked whether a date had been confirmed for the submission of the Prosecutor’s report to the UN Security Council, Swinnen said that the provisional date is 6 June.
One of the benchmarks for closing the policy area No. 23 (Judiciary and Fundamental Rights) in Croatia's EU entry talks was Croatia's full cooperation with the Hague tribunal.
