The defence team representing Nevenka Jurak, the owner of the marketing agency Fimi Media, has filed a constitutional complaint against the Zagreb County Court ruling ordering that their client be held in investigative custody for another two months.
"We have filed a complaint because we believe that our client's constitutional rights have been violated, such as the right to a fair trial and the right to equality before the law," defence attorney Kresimir Vilajtovic said on Monday.
Vilajtovic said that the Constitutional Court would hear the merits of the complaint on Thursday, when the other party would be able to state its position on it.
Nevenka Jurak and her business associate Anita Papes Loncar are suspected of illegally earning about 16.5 million kuna (2.26 million euros) in transactions with state-owned companies. The Zagreb County Court decided in mid-September to extend the detention order against them for another two months, citing the risk of their tampering with witnesses and repeating the crime.
Jurak and Papes Loncar have been in Zagreb's Remetinec Prison since early August when the national anti-corruption agency USKOK launched an investigation against them and Bojan Dimic, who has been provisionally released after admitting the wrongdoing.
