Asked to comment on the fact that the Hungarian state prosecutor's office rejected its Croatian counterpart's request to interview Zsolt Hernadi, former head of the Hungarian oil company MOL, about the alleged payment of EUR 10 million in bribes to former Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader, PM Jadranka Kosor said on Wednesday the Croatian government had no information to that effect and that it would continue to protect national interests by all means available.
"I believe I will soon have a chance to discuss many things with Prime Minister Viktor Orban. If anyone understands well what it means to protect interests and the obligation of a government and a prime minister to protect national interests and adopt decisions to that effect, then the Hungarian prime minister does," Kosor said in Split.
She added that her relationship with Orban, whom she described as a friend, was good and that he helped Croatia a lot in its accession negotiations with the European Union.
Kosor said the press should address their questions about this case to the Croatian State Prosecutor's Office (DORH) and to Hungarian institutions.
The media reported today that the Hungarian state prosecutor's office had rejected DORH's request that it interview Hernadi about the alleged payment of a bribe to Sanader so that MOL could acquire management rights in the Croatian oil company INA.
