The world's best male Alpine skier, Ivica Kostelic, on Monday underwent surgery to have a piece of fractured cartilage removed from his right knee in a clinic in Basel. He is expected to recover and rejoin the World Cup races by March 10.
The doctors who performed the surgery believe the cartilage broke during a race in Sochi, Russia, on Sunday.
