Zagreb Criminal Police Commissioner Vitomir Bijelic said on Friday that police and the State Prosecutor's Office for now believe that there were no elements in last night's explosion in west Zagreb, nor in an explosion that took place two days ago in the same part of the city, that could be qualified as acts of terrorism and for now the explosions were treated as acts against general security.
Both explosions caused public uneasiness and brought the lives of local residents in danger. They caused material damage and for now they can be qualified as acts against general security, Bijelic told Croatian Radio.
Last night's explosion and the one which took place two days ago happened on the same micro-location, Bijelic said, adding that the police have collected evidence and sent them to a forensic lab which will then determine what kind of explosive device caused the blast.
Security expert Mate Lausic told Croatian Radio earlier today that he considered last night's explosion to be a terrorist act, although it may not have been committed by a real terrorist but a copycat.
