The police in Zadar are collecting documents and conducting inquiries about the privatisation of the Zelena Punta tourist complex in Kukljica on the island of Ugljan owned by Croatian People's Party (HNS) president Radimir Cacic, at the request of the county prosecutor, Zadar City Police Department head Zlatko Sokolar said at a news conference on Wednesday.
Answering reporters' questions about the tourist complex, Sokolar said that the police had been working on the case for several days, but he could not say when the outcome of the police inquiries would be known.
"The documents in question are extensive and most of them are not in Zadar, so the local police are cooperating with other police departments on the case," said Sokolar.
Members of parliament from the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) party in January accused Cacic and his company Coning of wrongdoing in the privatisation of Zelena Punta, which Coning bought in 2001.
Minister of the Interior Tomislav Karamarko said at the time that the police would investigate the allegations.
