A candidate of the centre-left coalition in Constituency No. 1, Vesna Pusic of the Croatian People's Party (HNS), said at a meeting with members of the public in Zagreb on Tuesday that "there are great chances for us to overcome this depressing situation" and that Croatia "is facing a new era in its development".
Pusic highlighted four key points of the coalition's platform that she said would help get the country out of the deep crisis -- energy, transport, environment, and tourism, adding that without responsible and competent people, progress was not possible.
She said that Croatia now had access to EU funding for development projects, which required competent and educated young people. "We have them, but unfortunately they have not been close to the government or state administration so far," she said, adding that those people should be brought together to work on overcoming the present crisis.
Constituency No. 1 covers the northwestern part of Zagreb County and the central and western parts of the City of Zagreb.
