Slovenian President Boris Pahor said on Friday it was important for Slovenia to maintain its credibility with respect to the ratification of Croatia's EU accession treaty.
"It is in Slovenia's national interest, but it also concerns Croatia and the international community where we need to retain our credibility," Pahor told a press conference in Ljubljana.
He commented on the political situation in the country and responded to several questions concerning relations between Slovenia and Croatia.
Pahor said that the ratification issue was now in the hands of the Slovenian government and parliament where a two-thirds majority of votes is required for the ratification of the Croatian treaty.
Pahor expressed hope that the two countries' financial experts would find a solution to the Ljubljanska Banka issue within the framework of the agreement on succession to the former Yugoslavia.
