Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor has said that the parties making up Croatia's ruling coalition will meet on Monday to discuss what the coalition, members of Parliament, and the government should do to help complete the country's EU accession talks.
Kosor made the statement at a ceremony at which she presented membership cards to 1,000 new members of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) Youth Association.
She expressed confidence that a large number of Croatians would vote in favour of Croatia's accession to the EU in a forthcoming referendum.
Speaking of parliamentary elections, she said, "Regardless of the election outcome - and I'm sure the HDZ will have excellent results - the HDZ is a strong party which is needed in Croatia," adding that she would not allow "Croatia to turn red the way the comrades have been announcing lately."
She also noted that today's ceremony was not "an election rally, but a regular party activity."
HDZ Youth Association leader Martina Banic said the association had 65,000 members, with 5,000 having joined over the past year alone.
