Former Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader left the country on Thursday morning, after the Croatian parliament received a request from the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor (DORH) to strip him of immunity as an independent member of Parliament, sources close to the police told media.
A source who spoke to media on condition of anonymity confirmed that the former prime minister had crossed the Croatian-Slovenian border at the Bregana border crossing.
According to unofficial information, Sanader crossed the border around 11 am without any problems because the police did not have any warrant for his arrest or detention.
The Croatian parliament this morning received a request from DORH to strip Sanader of immunity. The content of DORH's request, which could be discussed by the parliament's Credentials and Privileges Commission around 2.30 pm, is still not known because the document is classified, but the media report that Sanader is suspected of abuse of powers in the Fimi Media corruption case.
