Democratic Union (HDZ) vice-president Vladimir Seks on Wednesday dismissed as speculation media reports about imminent dismissals of state secretaries in some ministries, saying that the latest developments in the party showed that the HDZ was getting rid of "its political baggage".
Answering questions from the press during a visit to the eastern city ofOsijek, Seks said that media reports saying that some state secretaries wouldbe replaced were "mere speculation".
He added, however, that changes would be made "if, perhaps, a new lawon the government is adopted or if the government is reshuffled".
The current political activities mean that the HDZ is getting rid of itspolitical baggage which has been pulling it back, Seks said, adding that thelatest events in the party were aimed at "stabilising the party, thegovernment and the ruling coalition and at making them more efficient",which he said was evidenced by an improved rating of PM Jadranka Kosor and theruling coalition.
