The Croatian State Attorney's Office (DORH) reiterated on Friday, in the wake of claims that nothing is being done in connection with war crimes in the Split-based military prison Lora, that eight persons were convicted in the Lora 1 case in 2006 of war crimes against civilians.
DORH said on its website that five persons were indicted for war crimes against prisoners of war in the Lora 2 case before the Split County Court in 2008.
DORH added that the Lora 2 case was now before the Supreme Court following an appeal lodged by the Split County Attorney's Office in June 2010 against a Split County Court ruling which turned down a motion by the County Attorney's Office to try in absence the defendants who were at large.
DORH went on to say that an investigation, requested by prosecutors on 13 November 2009, was under way following new reports and information about events at Lora.
