A former Serbian President and the current Democratic Party (DS) leader, Boris Tadic, said on Sunday that he would not run for the DS president at the next election convention of this strongest opposition party in Serbia.
Tadic announced his decision at the DS central committee's meeting in Belgrade on Sunday when explained that the reason for this decision was to prevent any divisions in the party.
Tadic was defeated by Tomislav Nikolic in the Serbian presidential runoff in June.
The DS electoral convention is likely to be held on 25 November.
