The Croatian Police Directorate said on Friday that Vinko Sindicic, suspected of blackmail in the 1983 Stjepan Djurekovic murder case, was arrested in Germany.
The Police Directorate said in a press release it was notified aboutSindicic's arrest by by the Croatian General Consulate in Munich. He isdetained in a Munich prison.
A member of the former Yugoslav secret service UDBA, Sindicic was aprotected witness in the trial of Krunoslav Prates for the murder of Djurekovicin Munich on 28 July 1983. According to the media, the German authorities linkSindicic's arrest with the Djurekovic case and his status in the trial has beenchanged.
