German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle told the German parliament's committee on the European Union on Thursday that Croatia's admission to the EU could take place on 1 July 2013.
Westerwelle said that after talks of the EU foreign ministers at the session of the general affairs council on 23 May he was under a impression that Croatia was running the last few yards towards the EU.
He added that if the European Commission report, which has not be published yet, should be positive as he expected it to be, a date of the conclusion of Croatia's EU entry talks would soon be known, and the admission could take place on 1 July 2013.
