A former board member of the Croatia Osiguranje insurance company and witness in the Fimi Media corruption case, Damir Mihanovic, has been placed under police protection, Interior Ministry spokeswoman Jelena Bikic confirmed to the media on Wednesday.
The police made the decision after Mihanovic came to the Interior Ministry on Tuesday to report that he felt his life was in danger because of his presence in the media as a witness in several cases. Bikic declined to specify which protective measures were in place, saying that such information was classified.
Mihanovic has recently said that in September 2011 he received a call from a government telephone and that a female voice threatened him. He recognised the voice and reported the case to the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor. He declined to discuss the content of the threat, citing the confidentiality of the investigation.
