Approximately 300,000 jobs have been lost since the start of the recession in Serbia, the grey economy accounts for 30% of Gross Domestic Product and a chance for overcoming the crisis lies in the reduction of the black market, Serbian Economy Minister Sasa Radulovic said on Thursday.

According to him, he and Dominique Strauss-Kahn, new advisor to the Serbian government, have recently expressed a joint position regarding the reduction of the grey economy and redirection of money into legal transactions, Radio Television Serbia reported.

Radulovic stressed that since the start of the crisis, 300,000 jobs have been lost formally and informally that number is much higher - 600,000.

Radulovic was appointed Serbia's economy minister following a government reshuffle on 2 August when the Finance and Economy Ministry, led by Mladjan Dinkic, was divided into two ministries. The government is led by the coalition of Aleksandar Vucic's Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) and Ivica Dacic's Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS).
