Presenting the programme for this year's Europe Week, the head of the European Union's Delegation to Croatia, Paul Vandoren, has said that spectacular progress has been made on Croatia's road towards the European Union since last year's Europe Week.
If we go back a year ago, when we announced the 12th edition of Europe Week, I can say that spectacular progress was made, Ambassador Vandoren said presenting, together with Croatian Foreign and European Affairs Minister Vesna Pusic, the programme for this year's Europe Week in Croatia, which includes 30 events to take place in the capital of Zagreb and several Croatian towns and cities in the coming days.
A year ago it was still not known whether it would be achievable to bring the accession negotiations to a conclusion by the end of June 2011, and now we have them concluded and the Treaty of Accession has been signed and so far ratified by six countries, the EU ambassador said in Zagreb.
Both Croatia and the European Union can be proud of that achievement, Vandoren said.
Presenting the agenda of the 13th edition of Europe Week in Croatia, Vandoren pointed out the opening of European Film Days this evening in Zagreb with the screening of "Terraferma", an Italian film, in the Metropolis cinema in Zagreb. European Film Days will be taking place in Zagreb, Rijeka and Pula on 2–9 May 2012.
On Friday, a large concert will be held on Bundek Lake in Zagreb.
Minister Pusic said that the central event would be held in the Cvjetni Square in downtown Zagreb on Saturday morning.
Events within this year's Europe Week will also take place in Split, Samobor, Zapresic, Zabok, Sisak, Slavonski Brod, Opatija and some other towns.
