Ankica Mamic, spokeswoman for First Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Radimir Cacic, said on Monday she had never been in possession of the email relating to former Environment Minister Mirela Holy so she could not have leaked it to the media, as claimed by Holy.
"I have never in my life received an email from the CEO of the HZ rail company or from Holy," Mamic told the media when asked to comment on Holy's statement that she was involved in the leakage of the email in question.
Earlier in the day, Holy filed charges with the State Prosecutor's Office against an unidentified person for breach of privacy after her email, in which she asked the CEO of the HZ rail company to protect the wife of a party colleague, was leaked to the media, which led to her resignation.
Holy told a press conference that in her report to the Prosecutor's Office she expressed her suspicion that Mamic was connected with the disclosure of her email correspondence, adding that it was interesting that Mamic and Croatian Television (HTV) anchorman Sinisa Kovacic had talked the day before HTV made the email public.
Mamic confirmed she had met Kovacic for a coffee, which they had arranged three days earlier, and that he had told her that the next day he would "expose the nepotism of Mirela Holy" in HTV's late evening news programme.
