The authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina have requested international assistance in putting out a wildfire outside Jablanica in northern Herzegovina which has been threatening the nearby settlements for the past several days, the local media reported citing officials sources.
The Chairman of the Bosnian Council of Minister, Vjekoslav Bevanda, held a conference call at the request of Security Minister Fahrudin Radoncic, at which it was decided that Bosnia would seek international help in putting out fires.
Assistance will be requested via the EU Monitoring Centre in Brussels and help will most probably be sent from Croatia, Bevanda's office said in a press release.
Omer Neziric of the Jablanica civil protection office said there were indications that two Canadair planes will help put out the fire on Tuesday.
