The leader of the opposition Croatian People's Party (HNS), Radimir Cacic, said in Split on Saturday that the ongoing fight against corruption was not Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor's fight but one headed by state institutions.

"Claims about someone being against her fight don't stand because it's not her fight, it's a matter of the rule of law," Cacic told reporters when asked to comment on Kosor's statement that the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and other opposition parties, unlike her and her HDZ party, were not supporting the fight against corruption.

"An independent judiciary is not concerned about whether the PM is for (the fight) or not, or if I'm for it or not. An independent judiciary puts thieves behind bars and that's it," Cacic said.

The HNS leader made the statement on the margins of a presentation of the election platform of the SDP-led opposition coalition which includes his party.
